Many struggles, one movement

Opening of Rio+20 People’s Assembly for Our Solutions

Thousands of people were at the Cúpula dos Povos (People’s Summit) for the opening of today’s People’s Assembly for Our Solutions with a “mystica” theater piece by La Vía Campesina depicting a victory for people and the planet.

Wow. I’m overwhelmed. I had no idea of the existence of your group, or of Jobs for Justice, until I read an article this morning by Dana Milbank, “On the left and feeling left out.” It aches me to see you struggle as underdogs on an uneven field. I hate to sound like an advertisement, but I’ve spent my life trying to find a solution to the adversarial relation between the haves and the have nots. My suggestion is to continue your massive, inspiring grass roots efforts at the front line, but at the same time, back in the neighborhood, help to replace the predominant thinking paradigm, the academic/scientific, which allows the powerful to use the system against all opposition. The only alternative I have found is the thinking paradigm used by our greatest scientists Copernicus, Galileo, Newton and Einstein. It would allow each of us, in our own way, to help all those around us find the true meaning of facts and events that now are tangled in webs spun by the 1%.
